I had a handful of sessions with Claire to cope with heightened anxiety about giving birth at the height of the Covid pandemic. I found the face to face and online sessions a huge help, becoming more aware of my feelings in order to rationalise and cope with changing circumstances. I recently received online one-to-one hypnotherapy sessions with Claire during lockdown. In the past, I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks, and although previous talking therapies, mindfulness and my own self-help avenues helped a great deal, I still wasn't where I wanted to be in terms of my confidence and happiness. I was recommended to Claire by one of my friends who had also received help through Claire's support, and I can honestly say she was brilliant. Not only did the hypnotherapy sessions help me to gain the confidence I needed for my life in general, but they also helped me to set up my own business. Something I have been wanting to do for years but could never find the self confidence to do it. I cannot believe the difference that Claire has made; I sought Claire's help to try and manage my arachnophobia- with two pre-schoolers I really wanted to feel more in control when alone in the house and faced with an eight legged beastie. The old me would have felt sick at the sight of one, panicked, found excuses to leave the house, avoided rooms etc until husband was home to evict the spider.
I only had three sessions. In the couple of months following my therapy I’ve already been able to scoop spiders onto bits of paper and pop them outside and trap the big ones under glasses and remove them without fear. I never could have imagined doing this beforehand and the best bit is I’ve genuinely felt calm, in control and able to chat about our little visitors with the kids who are young enough that they will have no idea that I’ve previously been afraid of them. Recently my husband pulled a massive cardboard box out of the shed and literally tens of massive spiders came racing over it towards me in the garden. I would previously have run screaming for the hills, but I just commented on how many there were and I think he was more bothered than I was!
The therapy didn’t involve any actual spiders - I remember being nervous that one would be produced. Just talking, and relaxing on Claire’s lovely couch. Her rates were super reasonable and I cannot believe how my whole response to spiders has changed so quickly.
